SpoorSeek

Privacy policy

Last updated 11 October 2026.

SpoorSeek is run by ATS All Technology Solutions (Pty) Ltd, South Africa ("we"). Contact: support@atstech.co.za. We process your information under South Africa's Protection of Personal Information Act (POPIA).

What we keep

Why

Only to store your hunts and show them back to you on your devices and on the website at spoorseek.com/account. Your hunts are private: no other user can see them unless you share a link, and we do not sell, share or advertise with your data. The only data that leaves SpoorSeek is what you share by link, what you send to your own TopShot account, and your position if you choose to share it with a farm through SpoorFind, below.

Shared links

You can share a finished hunt as a link. Anyone who has the link can open the page without an account, so send it only to people you trust. The page shows the animal, the day, the weapon type and calibre, the outcome, the distance tracked and the time from shot to found, the trail and your marks, and the hunt's photos and videos. It never shows your name, the farm or region, the guide or tracker, or your notes. For each link you choose whether the trail is shown on a satellite map or drawn without saying where it was. Location stored inside the files is removed from shared photos and videos in both cases. We count how many times a link is opened. You can stop sharing at any time in the app or on the website; the link stops working and the copies made for it are deleted.

TopShot (only if you connect it)

If you choose Connect TopShot in Settings, the app talks to your own TopShot account directly from your phone; nothing passes through our servers. It reads your rifles and ammunition so you can pick them, and sends what you choose to record: rifles and factory ammunition you add, zero and group checks, and for a finished hunt with rounds picked, the species, the date and time of the shot, the shot distance, rounds fired, whether the animal was recovered and how far you tracked. SpoorSeek never sends where you hunted: no GPS track, marks, farm, notes or photos go to TopShot. TopShot's own privacy policy covers what it keeps. Disconnect in Settings stops this; to remove the link for good, also remove SpoorSeek under Connected apps in TopShot.

Classifieds

If you list gear, the listing (title, description, price, country and town or region you type, and the photos you add) is visible to other paid members and to members on the free trial for 30 days or until you remove it, along with a way to message you through SpoorSeek. Messages are stored in your account and the other person sees only what you write: your email address and phone number are never shown unless you type them. When a message arrives we may email the other person to say one is waiting, without its text. Reports you make are kept so we can review the listing. Listings, photos and messages are deleted when you delete them or your account.

Finding a farm (SpoorFind listings)

The Find a farm screen searches SpoorFind, a separate service where farms list their prices. Searching sends SpoorFind the area you chose, as your phone's position rounded to about a kilometre (or the whole of South Africa if you choose Anywhere), plus any species and dates you type. No account is needed to look. If you send a farm an enquiry, the app signs you in to SpoorFind with your SpoorSeek account, and SpoorFind emails the farm your enquiry: your SpoorSeek email address (so the farm can reply), your dates, party size and message. Booking and payment are arranged with the farm, outside the app. The farm and SpoorFind keep an enquiry under their own terms.

SpoorFind (only if you scan a farm's code)

Some farms use SpoorFind, a separate service, to know who is on the property. Nothing is sent unless you scan the QR code that farm gives you and agree on the screen that follows. One scan covers one stay, with the stay dates set by the farm. While you are on that farm, the app sends your phone's position (latitude, longitude, accuracy and time) to SpoorFind, which shows it to that farm. SpoorSeek also tells SpoorFind who you are (your SpoorSeek account identifier) so the farm can tell its hunters apart. SpoorSeek does not record audio, and sends no photos, hunts, marks, notes or tracks. Sharing stops when you leave the farm's area, when you tap Stop sharing, or when the stay ends. If you return to the same farm during the same stay it starts again without a new scan, and the app tells you each time, as long as the stay is still open and the farm still uses SpoorFind's tracking option; otherwise you scan again. Position is sent with location services running in the background while sharing is on, and a notification shows while that happens. The farm and SpoorFind keep what they receive under their own terms; SpoorFind will publish its privacy terms at spoorfind.com/privacy before this goes live, and you can ask the farm how long it keeps it. The farm may record sound on its own equipment while you are on its property; that is the farm's recording, not SpoorSeek's, and you should ask the farm about it.

Where and how long

On servers we operate in South Africa. We keep your data until you delete it or delete your account. Database backups are kept for up to 14 days and are then overwritten.

Your rights

You can download a copy of all your data with Download my data at spoorseek.com/account, or ask for it at support@atstech.co.za. You can correct it in the app, and delete your account at any time in the app or at /delete-account. Deleting removes your account, hunts, photos, videos and shared links. You may complain to the Information Regulator (South Africa).
